USCBP AND GTAA SECURITY BLITZ
It has come to Unifor's attention that the USCBP is doing a forty day, zero tolerance security blitz.
We realize that on a daily basis every Unifor members works responsibly and respect the rules where our safety and security is concerned. However, in lieu of the blitz, we urge each and every one of us to be extremely diligent with all security related issues.
Please take every precaution necessary to make sure that all doors are secured, no piggy-backing occurs and all proper ID and passes are up to date and in order. Do not find yourself in any secured area that you are not supposed to be in.
As per the Canada Border Services Agency:
11.4 (1.1) Every person who is in a customs controlled area shall, if requested by an officer, (a) present himself or herself in the prescribed manner to an officer and identify himself or herself; and (b) answer truthfully any questions asked by an officer in the performance of his or her duties under this or any other Act of Parliament.
A Canada Border Services Officer may stop, question and search any person within or leaving a customs controlled area in accordance with Sections 11(2-5) AND 99(2-4) of the Customs Act.
