Below are questions and answers on Pension issues.

Q: If I take the VPP and use 2% or 4% of my wage to purchase additional vacation each year, will it affect my Pension?
A: Yes, it can. If an agents takes the VPP option and wants to pay for it with the 2% or 4% option, they have effectively reduced their income, which will reflect in their pension.  It also depends if those years are also their best 3 years of earnings. However, most agents include their OT in their pension earning calculation, so for most of us it is a wash and has little impact. If you pay for your VPP with your time-bank, then no impact.
