"Unifor is committed to creating space for young workers within the union through local and regional Young Worker's Committees as well as the Young Worker conferences and training programs to develop confidence, skills, and the knowledge to participate actively in union life and play a role in building our union for the future."

PACIFIC YOUNG WORKER'S COMMITTEE - P.Y.W.C.
The Pacific Young Worker's Committee (P.Y.W.C.) brings focus and priority to issues specific to young workers.
The P.Y.W.C. engages in activities and initiatives with the goal of inspiring young workers to become active in their union and in their communities. We are made up of members aged 35 and under, whose goals include developing and maintaining education for young workers, building communication networks to liaise with other members, as well as giving our young workers a greater understanding of the responsibilities of leadership and encouraging their participation. Young people are generally treated as consumers of popular culture rather than members of an engaged and active citizenship. We are more likely to be asked what we think is "hip" and "cool" instead of being asked what we think is "right" and "wrong". Unifor's Young Worker's Committees are important structures in the Canadian youth movement, helping to raise the voice of young people.

Young Worker's Committees around the globe have historically been inspired by a growing push to meaningfully engage young union members with the goal of education and activism. They also provide an opportunity to work with other progressive organizations to bring about peace, social justice, a healthy and sustainable environment, and, more generally, to improve the lives of working people.

Young Worker's Conferences educate and empower young members to best represent their union on the jobsite or at the workplace. Young Worker's Committee members have held successful Labour Day events, charity tournaments, food/toy/clothing drives, organizing campaigns and so much more!
Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union comprising members from nearly every section of our economy, has become a source of optimism and inspiration that a fairer, more secure future can be won for working people, that unions can adapt to changing times, and remain a relevant voice for workplace and social justice. We are committed to paving the way for the future of our union!
The P.Y.W.C. is about organizing our young membership at the grassroots level and building camaraderie and solidarity to ensure our future with all of our Brothers and Sisters in the labour movement!
