Helpful tips if you become injured or ill at work and are filing a claim with WorkSafeBC

- Report the injury to your employer without delay
- Witnesses – Talk to them and ask them for a statement
- See your health and safety rep
- See a medical practitioner as soon as possible
(You have the right to see your own doctor) - Proof read all documents and paperwork (Dr and employer )
- Be truthful
- Get copies of employer’s report
- Provide all necessary documents (witness statements etc.)
- Keep photocopies for your own record
- Keep a diary with a timeline of events
- Employer must provide transportation to medical services if necessary (don’t drive yourself or ask a co-worker to drive you)
