This is such a hard time for everyone and we all just need to be respectful and show compassion. Thank you

Racism - 29Jan

Our 100.00 footwear credit will be on our Feb 3rd paycheque. To qualify you must work 180 days in the previous year.

Political Activist Zoom Call - 28Jan
Unifor National has been working feverishly to persuade the government to support and to assist airlines with financial aid. Across Canada lets add our voices and advocate that keeping Canadian Aviation is viable and paramount to Canada's economic recovery. On Friday, Jan 29th, 2021 we will have a preliminary discussion with those that are politically inclined on providing strategies that we can carry on a grassroots level. If this is you, please send an email to Martin so that he can send you a Zoom link. His email is -  martin@unifor2002.org

Mitigation meeting update -27Jan
The Air Canada Bargaining Committee met with the Company yesterday to discuss mitigation options. Although dialogue was productive Air Canada requested more time to consider options that were presented. We will reconvene on Friday Jan 29th.

Regional Racial Justice Liaison - 26Jan
Unifor is currently seeking five Racial Justice Liaisons (one per region) to provide project support and coordination and help our regional and national teams in implementing our anti racism action plan. Regional racial justice liaisons will be working directly to support the development of an anti racism program that will drive organizational change and make lasting impacts for Black, Indigenous and people of colour within both the union and our communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Black , Indigenous or worker of colour who is looking to learn new skills, increase their involvement and engagement within the union and locals, develop their leadership capacity, network and contribute to positive social change and racial justice. Please send your application to employment@unifor.org by 1600  Monday Feb 15th 2021 and indicate the job title and the Region you are applying for in the subject line.

For a deep dive and position requirements please visit www.unifor2002.org

Mitigation Meeting - 26Jan
A meeting between Air Canada and our Air Canada Bargaining Committee will take place today to present mitigation concepts and have meaningful discussions to find solutions for our members to avoid or lessen involuntary layoffs during this uncertain time. Please visit www.unifor2002.org - Deja vu for Air Canada members for a more detailed information. Following this meeting we will advise of what progress has been made.

Seniority Lists - 25Jan
Art. 10.04.01 - No later than Mar 1st of each year, the Company shall prepare and post complete seniority lists for each classification. For those interested, there is a copy of the seniority list in the lunchroom.

Kathy has also printed a F/T and P/T breakdown which may be more up to date than the company offered list.

Layoffs at YVRAP - 22Jan
Earlier today Air Canada began issuing layoff letters to affected staff. The company has identified a surplus of 31 FTE. For those members that have unfortunately received a letter please read over it carefully, weigh your choices and ask a union officer for assistance to complete if needed. Once this form is filled out and submitted it cannot be changed or modified. Although these are stressful times and saying goodbye to colleagues is never easy we are hopeful better days will come soon and our airline returns to pre pandemic staffing levels.

VLOA -19Jan
Employees interested in the program are to complete their application online no later than Wednesday , Jan 20th, at 1800EDT.
Please read the terms and conditions of this program carefully. Be advised there is no service adjustment and salary advancement
with this program.

The Union has reinforced the need for a LOA program to include benefits to make them attractive and applicable for the membership
however at this point Air Canada has not met with the Bargaining Team. To be clear on the LOA program in its current state ; IF a different mitigation program becomes available, the member would not be eligible to cancel or with to a different mitigation program as the rules for the LOA are very specific : Leaves of absence once approved are not rescindable by the employee except by agreement of the Company.

Unifor will continue to approach Air Canada with Mitigation concepts such as
- VSPs
- CEWS
- Pension bridging
- Job share programs

It is important to note that up until now AC has shown no interest in entertaining these ideas. Thank you for your patience as we
attempt to mitigate the staffing overages during the Pandemic.

Customer Care - 11Jan
This position is a one stop shop position that specializes in the handling of UMNR and WCHR passengers. If these passengers arrive at Customer Care they need to receive our utmost attention and care and should not be redirected to regular check-in. Thank you in advance.

Change to COVID notification process - 09SEP
While employees who have been in close and/or prolonged contact with passengers who are confirmed as having COVID-19 (ie. wchr) will continue to be informed of that directly by management, Air Canada is discontinuing the practice of notifying all ground based employees who worked past flights identified as having carried passengers with COVID-19. Ground based employees will continue to be notified when the company has been advised that an arriving flight may have a potential active COVID-19 case.
While AC initially did advise these employees out of an abundance of caution, it is now clear that simply working an affected flight does not present an increased risk for employees, particularly in light of the PPE, CleanCare+ and the requirement for all employees to self monitor and daily temperature checks. Public health officials have confirmed that flight transmission is considered low. Employees who have been in close contact defined as spending 15mins or more closer than 2 metres will continue to be notified directly.
Employees interested in a complete list of flights in Canada which carried passengers confirmed as having COVID-19 within the last 14 days may visit the Public Health Agency of Canada website.
Thank you for continuing to abide by our COVID-19 related measures by wearing your PPE to keep yourself, colleagues and customers safe.

Staffing Updates - 22MAY
Over the next few days please check your AC emails and ESS for potential updates.
Air Canada may be finally addressing manpower requirements for the summer.

Shift Bid Cancelled - 21APR
Regretfully, our spring shift bid has been cancelled. After repeated efforts with the Air Canada western resource manager, she has unilaterally made the decision to forgo a spring bid. The Union will not compromise the integrity of the process without proper protocols in place to ensure seniority of the bid can be guaranteed. Based on the new reality that COVID-19 presents, our goal was to conduct a bid balancing concerns of the membership by dramatically scaling back the bid team in the Boardroom, strictly allowing only one employee to be present during their designated bid time all the while adhering to social distancing. As in the past, the option to view and bid from home or a remote location was to be available and now more than ever would have been the preferred method.

Over the past two weeks, AC has offered the Level 3 boardroom as adequate for the Union to field numerous questions on a range of issues such as the CERB/CEWS programs, Lay off, Recall and Bumping. It is perplexing they are only now concerned about our safety. As your
District Chair, I recognized the importance of a bid for many of you however the transparency of the bid is paramount. Even though local management has shown little appetite to balance the wishes of the employees, I am convinced the bid can be handled in a safe manner.
Regards Kathy

Please be advised ...
- Probational employees can only choose CERB

based on your status F/T or P/T
- Please note by Jun 6th these programs come to an end unless extended. Moral of the story, everything will be re-evaluated

- Please be careful making your decision based on information provided on non company social media sites such as Telegram.

Pay Advice - 26MAR20
Please take a moment and carefully check the most recent Pay Advice which is our April 1st

AC Code of Conduct // Social Media - 26MAR20
Employees are prohibited from publishing or posting materials on any social networking websites or in any forum that damages or negatively impacts or disparages the reputation or image of the company. YVRAP seniority list - 25MAR20
A base specific seniority list which includes F/T and P/T has been printed and is available for viewing in the lunchroom.

Air Canada announcing staff reductions - 23MAR20
Following an 80% reduction in capacity, Air Canada has advised they must reduce staff across Canada. Late today they have identified staff reductions by location. They have agreed to solicit members to participate in a voluntary layoff program to help mitigate layoffs. The program will commence immediately and applications will be available shortly. Provisions of the voluntary layoff program will include :
- continuation of medical benefits
- travel privileges
- retention of service/seniority
- the ability to buy back pensionable service upon completion of layoff
*** Application to be relaunched shortly per Al Read VP airports // please your AC email  ***
For probationary employees, normally the CBA has no provision with respect to recall rights. However Air Canada and Unifor have agreed to place these members on inactive status with recall rights for 12 months. Probationary status will recommence once the member has been recalled.

Any permanent employees affected by an involuntary layoff will be placed on layoff status 21 days after notice with full recall rights.

Your Bargaining Committee understands the stress and frustration that our members are currently facing during these uncertain times. We have been, and will continue to be, in touch with AC management to work on mitigation programs and fair treatment of our members.

24 month Phase Ins - 23MAR20
For those that are completing their 24 month Phase In you may elect a voluntary layoff however EI will not apply. You can complete your term at a later date, please contact your Bargaining Rep with any queries.

Union Seniority List - 20MAR20
In accordance with article 10.04 of the Air Canada/ Unifor Collective Agreement a master copy of the seniority list is posted at work in PDC. It is the responsibility of each individual employee to examine the list and ensure their seniority is correctly reflected. If a member notices an error or omission please email coordinator-lr-technicalsrvcs@aircanada.ca and copy your regional bargaining representative.

As of this evening Air Canada manpower is still finalizing staffing across airports throughout Canada. Due to the scale and complexity of this adjustment  lay-off notices have been temporarily delayed for a day or two. The Union remains committed to answering any questions you may have as we work through this difficult time.

Important update to all Air Canada CSSA - 19MAR20
Late this evening, Air Canada advised Unifor that due to the ongoing pandemic the company is substantially downsizing the workforce resulting in the need to lay-off.

The Unifor collective agreement calls for 21 day advance notice for a layoff and outlines each members bumping rights. Air Canada will begin the process of providing notice to those affected as early as tomorrow. The company has agreed to ongoing dialogue with the Union to discuss voluntary mitigation options to reduce the number of involuntary layoffs.

In the interim you may receive a layoff notice. However this notice may be rescinded if the mitigation programs are successful.
Given the nature of this ongoing crisis, and the direct result on the airline industry the situation is changing daily. The Bargaining Committee will explore all options and try to minimize the impact on the membership. There will be many questions and we are working hard to answer them as quickly as possible.

Message from Kathy Waters - 18MAR20

- the 6000.00 legacy bonus will be paid out on the April 1st paycheque. Hourly increases were effective
Monday, March 8 th.

Air Canada CSSA Ratify Six Year Agreement - 15MAR20
Air Canada Customer and Sales members have voted 71 per cent in favour of the new agreement. The new agreement is in effect until February 28, 2026. The agreement eliminates the two tier pay scale , includes a legacy bonus , annual pay increases, and additional hours in time banks for Air Canada members.

Thank you to Jerry Dias - Unifor National President, Eulia Leonard - President of Unifor Local 2002, Scott Doherty - Executive Assistant to the National President of Unifor for their leadership and commitment in reaching an agreement.
Special thanks to the entire bargaining Committee and Leslie Dias - Unifor Director Airline Sector, who have spent countless hours bargaining with Air Canada for the past 12 months to forge this landmark agreement.

COVID - 19 Testing - 14Mar20
If any agent or their significant other,  who they cohabitate with,  tests positive for Covid-19 you must
quarantine for 14 days.  You will be paid in full while under quarantine.  Please call the sick line to advise.  They will in turn contact Human Resources who will work with the affected agents.  Proof of a positive test will be required.  Please continue to work safely, wash hands frequently and come forward with any questions and concerns you may have.

Air Canada CSSA Tentative Agreement - 05MAR20
Late this afternoon, and after two days of intense bargaining, the union and Air Canada have reached an updated tentative agreement. The agreement provides enhanced improvement for our membership. This agreement is subject to ratification by the membership. If ratified, the 6 year agreement will expire on Feb 28, 2026.

Voting schedule as follows ...
When - March 11th  (WED)
Where - YVRAP level 4 Boardroom B4101.16A also known as Sea to Sky meeting Room
Times - 0900-1100 // 1130-1330 // 1430-1630 // 1700-1900
** Please note that this boardroom has room for 50 however was deemed a better choice than an offsite
location as staff can easily access before shift, after shift or during breaks and lunches. Unfortunately the
Fairmont YVRAP is still unavailable. **

Air Canada CSSA Bargaining Update - 27FEB20
As you are aware, your Bargaining Committee and the National Union met with the company last week and submitted our latest monetary proposal. The parties have agreed to return to the bargaining table on March 4th. We will keep you updated as the bargaining unfolds. Thank you for your continuing support through this process.

Air Canada CSSA Bargaining update - 20FEB20
Following the leadership meeting on Feb 5th, our bargaining team re-entered discussions with the Company to to address issues that had arisen with the tentative agreement.

On Feb 19th and 20th the union met with Air Canada in YYZ to continue discussions. The Union tabled a comprehensive proposal package to Air Canada that aims to resolve the issues brought forward by Unifor's leadership and its members. The company responded advising they require additional time to review the proposal. Further information will be communicated as it becomes available.

We thank the membership for their unwavering support. In solidarity.

AC CSSA Leadership Meeting -  05FEB2020
Earlier today a meeting was held in Toronto with Jerry Dias, our Bargaining Committee, District Chairs and Vice Chairs from across Canada. The tentative agreement was discussed in depth. At this time, the agreement in its present form will not come to the membership to be voted on. Unifor will request a meeting with Air Canada to discuss concerns that have been brought up. Going forward there will be a vote with meetings scheduled once a new agreement has been reached or all options exhausted. Regards

Air Canada CSSA Leadership meetings to Reconvene - 03Feb2020

The Bargaining Committee has reviewed the concerns and issues that were brought forward at our leadership meeting that was held on Jan 22nd in Toronto. As a result of this assessment it has been decided that the meeting will reconvene in Toronto, on Wednesday, Feb 5th with District Chairs and Vice Chairs from across the country in attendance. Once the meeting has concluded, we will update the membership on the next steps moving forward. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Footwear Allowance - 03Feb2020
100.00 will be paid out on the Feb 5th paycheque to those employees who have been active at the airport for a minimum of 180 days in the previous calendar year.

Message from our District Chair - 26Jan2020
As we wait for an official response from Air Canada, I believe it is important to address certain areas of discussion. First off, all District Chairs and Bargaining Representatives across Canada will continue to work together while remaining confident and committed in reaching an equitable resolution to our present impasse. While social media can be helpful in reaching the membership and invoking healthy debate it also has become a hotbed for misinformation. Fear mongering and rumours are simply not constructive nor useful. We need to rise above this and remain a unified group. Back in 2015 IAM and CUPE both signed 10 year CBA's with Air Canada while Unifor chose a different path. We now have an opportunity to make solid improvements to pay equity, wage scales, benefits and overall compensation. In closing, I will continue to provide updates as information becomes available and please reach out to me with any questions and concerns you may have . Regards - Kathy
